The Quincy Mine
#2 Shafthouse will be lit
Monday, November 10th, 2014
in honor of
(to be announced)
Bill and Nanno Rose like the idea of lighting up the shaft, which we see so well from Houghton and which adds something to our our view of the outdoors and our geoheritage. "Our children were born here and now we have five grandchildren to celebrate also. We have proud geological roots here. We think the shaft should be bright on our birthdays, and this would be a good way to support geoheritage and the QMHA. We hope other local families will consider doing this"
Opening Day for the 2014 Season is scheduled for May 2nd
(weather and snow removal pending)
Special off season and extended tours can be arranged-click on Guided Tours & Rates at right
In support of Saving the Quincy Smelter Site, The Quincy Mine Hoist Association will donate half of all shafthouse lighting dedication donations from Thanksgiving 2013 to Thanksgiving 2014* to the Keweenaw NHP Advisory Commission for the Land Purchase of the Quincy Smelter Site.
*goal of $2000
