Renovating the cogwheel tram tracks was a major capital project, underwritten by a US Rural Development Loan. The work was done entirely by local contractors, who battled the elements at times to get the job done. We are still in need of donors to help underwrite the cost of this project: find out how you can tie in to this project by contacting 906-482-5569.

The adventure continues as you approach the portal of the Quincy Mine East Adit (1895). The adit is approximately 15 feet high and 15 feet wide and is lighted for the entire 2000' walk for the convenience of our visitors.
The cogwheel tram is back in operation with a new (used) motor. We are working on a more permanent solution, but guests can now enjoy the panoramic view of Houghton the and Portage Lake Lift Bridge.
