Renovating the cogwheel tram tracks was a major capital project, underwritten by a US Rural Development Loan. The work was done entirely by local contractors, who battled the elements at times to get the job done.

The cogwheel tram is back in operation with a new (used) motor. We are working on a more permanent solution, but guests can now enjoy the panoramic view of Houghton the and Portage Lake Lift Bridge.
