This is the story of the Pittsburgh & Boston Copper Mining Company and their most famous property, the Cliff Mine of Lake Superior. The Cliff was the first successful copper mine in the Americas, and over decades she developed characteristics that would be copied on other mining frontiers. This book concentrates not only on the mining history, but also focuses on the mining communities developed, what the pattern was for shipping and marketing of the metal, and what impact the Lake Superior copper fields had on the national and international trade networks.

It’s not long until the regular season begins, but until then, we’re always happy to put together a tour! We have a minimum of four adult participants to open a new tour, and we’re fairly flexible as to when tours can be scheduled.
