Our tour guide was Sarah. She was very knowledgeable and fun. She took the time to know her group of visitors and guided appropriately for our personalities. She answered all the questions our group had.

Very educational and worthwhile. The cave is very chilly, dress very warm, and if you bring a flashlight, make it a huge one. I do think the tour could have been a little shorter, just sticking to the facts. And not the lighthearted attempts at jokes by our guide, but overall, I enjoyed it. And learned. It was a little too breezy for us to do much walking around on the grounds, but the buildings looked like they were cool too. And a good gift shop and a local place across the street to get some fish and chips.

This is my second tour in the course of about two decades (once as a child and recently as an adult). Recently, my wife and I had a wonderful time. Julia was a great tour guide and it was a real treat to learn history, geography and about the mines on this fantastic outing. My only regret is that the fish place (across the street known for their fish sandwiches) was closed as it was a Sunday). Otherwise, it was a perfect outing. This tour is a must for those in the area!

This seemed a little expensive but the tour was long enough and went through enough of the mine and equipment to justify the cost. Be prepared with a hoodie or light jacket, because the part of the tour inside the mine is pretty chilly. Very enlightening, and the guides were really great at answering questions and demonstrating things.
We visited Quincy Mine during a small family trip and took a guided tour led by a friendly and knowledgeable guide, Liz. It was eye-opening to learn how difficult and dangerous the miners’ work was—it gave me a new perspective on my own job. I truly appreciate the chance to learn about their hard work and the important role they played in American history. A meaningful and memorable experience!

Amazing history, wonderful tour guide, please don’t miss this when you are in the area! It will give you a new understanding of the sacrifices made in the quest for modernity.

And, our tour guild, a MTU grad student, was fantastic.

Mine is 43 degrees year ‘round so bring a coat and light boots.

We visited on Friday April 22nd 2025.

We went with kids ranging from 8-16 and we all enjoyed this tour. It is long and I’m not sure I would bring young kids on this tour. Our guide, Tom, was great and very knowledgeable!

The employees working today were amazing at helping me learn more about my great grandpa’s life working in one of the mines near by. They were very informative and willing to work with me scheduling a last minute tour.

Thank you!

Check out the tour when you are in Hancock! We had a very knowledgeable guide (Conner?). He did a great job and provided our group with so much history. We enjoyed the video, the museum and checking out the mine. In the winter - wear winter gear.

What an absolutely wonderful experience!
Our tour guide who ended up here from California was truly outstanding. He has such a deep wealth of knowledge of the history of mining, and Quincy. He really took his time going over the history before we entered the mine and answered everyone’s questions. In the mine he knew everything front to back, and made the entire experience very exciting and educational. I have such a tremendous respect for this history of mining now. Highly recommend stopping by!!
