“History on the Hill” – Deborah Frontiera on Douglass Houghton

Summary: Join us as author Deborah K. Frontiera talks about her new publication – Douglass Houghton: Michigan’s Pioneer Geologist, Doctor, and Teacher.
A native of Lake Linden, Deborah Frontiera has written for children and adults, fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. She is also the editor for the annual U.P. Reader, produced by the Upper Peninsula Publishers and Authors Association.
Presentation begins at 6pm in Quincy Mine’s 1894 Hoist House with a book signing to follow. Event is free-of-charge with light refreshments provided.

Mine Landscape Snowshoe Hike
March 7, 2026
Summary: A trail that takes guests around and through some of the mine’s most prominent structures and ruins will be available for walking at any time throughout the day. An extended, guided hike is available free of charge at 12pm. Expect to learn more about the mine’s history and the structures that are visited. Guests should plan to bring their own snowshoes, dress for the weather, and expect a 1.5 – 2 mile hike. Meet at the No. 2 Shafthouse where light refreshments will be available.
Spring Plein-Air Art Day
