Copper Chisel Chips
Copper Chisel Chips locally sourced from various mines in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan.
These chisel chips were made during mining operations when miners encountered larger masses of copper in the drifts. The masses were cut by repeatedly chiseling 1/8" grooves in the copper to produce manageable chunks to extract from the mines. Each small groove represents one hammer hit. Popular locations in the Keweenaw these came from are Cliff Mine, Central Mine, and Minnesota Mine.
