Haunted Mine

Each fall the Quincy Mine Hoist Association partners with the Visual and Performing Arts Department at Michigan Tech to create a haunted experience for all ages. In the past, the event has been held inside Quincy Mine, a drive-through experience on Quincy Hill, and a walking tour at the Quincy Smelter. Be on the lookout for more information on when the annual event will happen each October.

Winter Tours

There is nothing more magical than experiencing Quincy Mine after a fresh blanket of snow. The interior mine temperature stays consistent year-round, so when the bitter cold of winter is blowing around, find some shelter inside the mine. Enjoy snow shoeing? Strap on some snow shoes and explore the Quincy Mine grounds on top of the snow.

Quincy Mine Rock Swap

2025 Rock Swap  –  August 6th @ 10 AM – 7 PM

This is a free all-day event at the Quincy Mine where rocks and minerals can be bought, sold or swapped. There will be numerous vendors with specimens, mining artifacts, jewelry, and more available to view and purchase. We will also have a food vendor on-site: The Curious Pig!

Feel free to explore the grounds of Quincy Mine while at the event and swing by our Gift Shop for a map of the property. Tours are available throughout the day as well and can be booked by selecting the “Book Now” button at the top of our website or by giving the Gift Shop a call at 906-482-3101.

If you’re interested in being a vendor, fill out our Registration Form. Registration closes on Monday, August 4th at 5 PM.

This event is held yearly on the Wednesday of Keweenaw Rock Week, which for 2025 is August 6th.

History on the Hill

 “Calumet & Its Theatre”   –  July 16th @ 6 PM

Join us in a conversation about the intriguing history of Calumet’s past and the role that culture played in the community, particularly at the Calumet Theatre. Archivist Jeremiah Mason and Chairman of the Theatre’s board, Dan Jamison, will provide a unique look into the area’s past as we celebrate the Village’s 150th anniversary and the Theatre’s 125th.

The event will be held Wednesday, July 16th at 6:00pm in Quincy Mine’s 1894 Hoist House, free of charge with light refreshments provided.
